Sure, they offer a separate LMS called SumTotal Maestro, but their TM has surprisingly (not really) been morphed into a HCM, will others follow? I admit have the time when I look at a few from the larger name entities, I can’t figure out how that vendor got to that part of that grid, what in the heck does that mean, and why is that vendor who isn’t even a learning system, appearing in that section of the grid over there? I’m not sure why people love grids.

That said, there were some hiccups and from an entire vendor wise (expo here) angle, some unique and some, uh. This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . I see way too many vendors think a web site is all they need and people will find them.

SumTotal Learning Management – They have come a long way. I readily admit for the longest time I was not a fan of SumTotal, but that was then, this is now. A lot of potential and a vendor to watch in 2020. They are on F indAnLMS.com. And they need to offer more flexibility when it comes to certificate management.

I mention this because there are vendors who continue to push towards adding performance management functionality to their learning system, with many people assuming these vendors to be, LMS vendors when it just isn’t universally true. I saw a lot more folks than in previous shows and more e-learning vendors too. Equally there were several ILT vendors who had some type of online learning thing going on. More interactive when it came to identifying sessions to attend, seeing where the vendors were located on exhibitor floor and so forth.

These discussions center on what requirements should go into an LMS RFP and more broadly how the LMS should really be integrated into the organization. Many LMS vendors provide this capability.
