Got accepted to a Masters program for secondary ed, but deferred. And now Im here -- "Manager of Instructional Design." But at this point, Im here to stay.

Craft distance learning events for college credit that pull together elements of both asynchronous and synchronous learning experiences. Create online learning experiences for use in K-12 classrooms. Karl Kapp commented, " We need to create formal learning events and surround them with messy learning opportunities for people to exchange ideas and try things out but we can add just enough structure and direction to make it possible. In fact, one of the sessions I attended at the Guild Event gave me a taste for this approach. In Rapid Project Management Techniques for e-Learning presented by Coates & Hill of Deloitte, they outlined their approach to creating a big enterprise-wide training program in an extremely aggressive timeframe.

The old theory: Up until now, Ive gone along with that concept of learning styles , which the books authors tell me is based on the information delivery theory. This is the notion that we all have a preferred channels for learning: visual or auditory. Im pretty skeptical of learning styles stuff, frankly (and justifiably).

I come from an old-school approach: I sort of understand the technology, but I leave the graphics and programming expertise to others. The programming skills should be left to the programmers.
