GeoLearning’s GeoMaestro is a LMS that packs a wallop but at the same time has some features that provide limitations. It is truly amazing on how vendors seem to think lots of stuff on the page, is the way to go and navigation is just a requirement. The downside is you do not automatically get to use it.

Geolearning. When GeoLearning changed to Express, I was fortunate to stay with the more advanced one – and still received updates.  Today, very few vendors offer this depth. Vendors expect use cases. The challenge hits on what the vendor considers Enterprise to mean. Bookstore. E-commerce. And it worked well.

CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. I found that if people knew the trainer was an employee, the scores tended to be higher – due to the fear that the person would be fired if the scores were low.

Oh, and not the first vendor I’ve seen this route, but that was more than a decade ago. There are vendors who pitch they have it, and there are folks who oversee L&D who still believe in it. And in 2002, many more – I used Geolearning – it offered lots of informal options. Or that they offer an LXP module.

I should add the Learning Platforms is the second biggest segment because a Personal Dev Platform, or Employee Experience Platform, where learning is the core component, is in essence, a learning platform. In my upcoming NexGen Leader Pack (coming in late July), the majority are LMS vendors. LMS vendor. Nor at DevLearn.

It was clear that not even LXP vendors (as a whole) knew – which explained why they targeted L&D, ignoring the other monster in the room, training. On top of all that, the LXP vendors (as a whole) pushed a false pretense that the LXP was vastly different than say an LMS. One of my favorite early vendors was GeoLearning.

My latest take on those three vendors (plus one) are: Cornerstone On Demand – I have seen the new UI and I like what I saw. On the Maestro side (formally GeoLearning), I don’t understand how they could have dropped the ball on the platform. This is why, you see some vendors doing quite well and others who are not.
