After a lot of discussion, we decided to build Cheevos into Jing. It's a product that almost everyone at the company already uses for their day-to-day work, and most of Team Cheevos had worked in the Jing code before. We released it to TechSmith's entire staff on a Friday. Jim Dusseau is a lead developer at TechSmith.

" What, in fact, happened is that our development team rewrote the TechSmith Capture Codec, a core element of our recording engine. Take a look at 00:09, for example, and notice the difference in Captain Jing's hands. By way of example, the Captain Jing capture above was 304MB using the old codec and 94MB using the new one.

Once people could add interactivity to Camtasia Studio videos in the form of hotspots , the Screencast team got a request for hotspot playback. When Screencast supported quizzing, our marketing team asked to include quizzes on www.techsmith.com. If Jing could upload images to Screencast, then Snagit should be able to as well.
