PENS is nearly non-existent in this segment and CMI-5 is extremely new and few vendors have it – expect more in 2019. What I would love to see is where the admin can add “new topics” and not select only from a list that the vendor has in the system. . Linkedin Learning does this and I hate it.

They have partnerships with a few LMS vendors whereas you can purchase their courses via that LMS. I am aware of at least one vendor who includes five courses at no additional charge into their LMS.

Sure, other vendors will say you can do that too, but you have to open each object file to get it. Many vendors hyping PowerPoint to Flash angle as key feature. 57% offer a trial at various length, this is significantly higher than any other e-learning tool with over 40 vendors in the market. I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. One vendor focuses only on Blackberry (not just Playbook but their smartphone like product). Vendor adoption is slow.

While it is true that there are vendors who are pure online proctoring solutions, it would seem to me, that having it as part of a learning management or platform is a better route then just a self-contained OP solution. Most tend to be proprietary, but I have seen a few that are SCORM/AICC and yes even PENS. Bottom Line.

What I am working on I reached out to each vendor to see what they could offer folks who are curious about their authoring tool, but don’t want to buy yet. But check. I also added the authoring tool, I consider the best in the market. Easy to use.
