How to Create an Online Course regardless of authoring tool or lack thereof

I don’t and still don’t understand the love for Kirkpatrick, which was designed/created for ILT. I see that folks take this model for ILT, then shove them into the online course builds and go, “See, it is perfect for that.” The rest captures the learner’s attention; I rarely see it in seminars for ILT.

I mean the anaytlics and metrics are true, and yes, you needed a place to house your content/courses, but they were designed to find out what you (person running L&D or Training) didn’t know what your learners knew and didn’t know, due to ILT only. Now in free-fall. Seems to have hit a wall. Not just one piece.

State of the LMS 2012

Back in the early 2000′s, LMSs often had content mgt features built within their system, but called themselves learning management systems. By the mid to late 2000′s, the split returned with LCMS and LMS (and yes, there were vendors who called themselves LCMSs for as long as e-learning – online learning – has existed).

Courseware LMSs – Good or bad for the industry?

I have always liked their Microsoft Office courses which appear as the software itself with tutorial capabilities of “show me, assist me, let me do it” angle. They do have e-learning courses, besides their ILT. I still believe you can do more with e-learning than ILT. Course rating: B+. Frankly they are massive.

Microsoft did not create PowerPoint as an authoring tool. How many of you who have been offered this amazing opportunity use a rapid course authoring tool?
