What has been applying is the term mobile learning and how it it pitched to consumers in the e-learning sector, especially with LMS/LCMS/Learning platform vendors. It shows up in your browser. As I often say to folks, what is the point of having an app, if all it does is open up my browser. Award winners for 2011.

They continue to muddle up the learning system space. The way a 3rd party content provider works with an LXP (or any learning system that offers a marketplace) is that they have a partnership agreement – allowing the vendor to have them in their marketplace. Today, it is the format most vendors follow, including LXPs.

Vendors were saying, lets “wait on those&# or “our customers are not requesting them, so we are holding off&#. Apparently, the potential customers and even clients are speaking and those vendors are listening. Not just a few vendors, the industry as a whole. That smartphones were the answer to mobile learning.

Sure, other vendors will say you can do that too, but you have to open each object file to get it. Mashups, Google charts. Many vendors hyping PowerPoint to Flash angle as key feature. 57% offer a trial at various length, this is significantly higher than any other e-learning tool with over 40 vendors in the market.

Several vendors have left the space, a few have entered. Vendors are hearing us and are making changes. Lite LMSs are growing and there is clearly a need in 2011. Bolded Vendor Names – There are vendors whose names are bolded. As of 1-13-2011, there were ZERO dead links. LMS Directory.

However, with ASTD’s TechKnowledge 2011, starting next week, I’m going to hold off until after TK11, to write on virtual worlds. What I like about conferences is the ability to see the latest products and hear the pitches from the vendors. Yet, for all that do it, their are equal number of vendors who do not.
