I’ve seen a number of people asking about the Coursebuilder extensions that are installed to Dreamweaver CS4 in the Adobe eLearning Suite. and SCORM 2004 along with AICC. Specifically, people have been trying to find out what is different between this version of Coursebuilder, and the version that was available a few years ago.

Macromedia Dreamweaver came out with templates. Dreamweaver was the tool to use for web design and development. The moment I saw how many of my contemporaries were using Dreamweaver Templates to build courses, I knew the end for the complex tools were coming. Output was AICC (boo) and SCORM. Storyboards were common.

Over the years, I have used ToolBook, Trainersoft, and even Dreamweaver with Coursebuilder. I really prefer the robust ability of creating courses in Flash and only use the DHTML e-learning authoring tools for their ability to make the course SCORM or AICC compliant. These courses can be published as SCORM or AICC compliant courses.

Adobe Captivate - Fantastic for creating simulations (software sims and branching sims), plus it does a good job recording audio for your sims. Being able to add quizzes and publish SCORM/AICC compliant courses is a big plus too. And it worked very well with my Macromedia Flash when I was getting started in e-learning.

A legacy e-learning course refers to an online course developed using Flash, Dreamweaver, XML/HTML, JavaScript or earlier versions of rapid authoring tools.
