Just read an article in the Guardian The long tail of blogging is dying (Found via Donald Clark ). But recently – over the past six months – a new trend: fewer blogs with links, and fewer with any contextual comment. out of the 133m blogs it tracks had been updated in the past 120 days. Blogging definitely takes work.

I rely pretty heavily on Google Blog Search to help me find people who are citing blog posts of mine so that I can see that kind of conversation. Unfortunately, it looks like Google Blog Search has decided that they will now include the entire contents of the web page rather than just the contents of the RSS feed.

AideRSS looks at a variety of sources of information including comments, technorati, bloglines, icerocket and del.icio.us You can see what it thinks are mine in the right column of the blog. I've not quite figured out how to take a very large list of blogs, e.g., all edublogs, and have it filter those down.

I had previously discussed the Aide RSS Filtering Tool - AideRSS looks at a variety of sources of information including comments, technorati, bloglines, icerocket and del.icio.us Certainly it's ability to find what are the posts generating the most interest on my own blog is helpful.

I received some great questions from Christy Tucker in reference to my recent post Types of Blog Discussions I have started using CoComment based on your mention of it a while back. It does satisfy a bit of curiousity around "Who's visiting my blog?" Blog discussions start on one blog with a post. Some don't.
