You recorded the screen, could change the screen size – as in full capture, a part, window, etc. Flash vs. HTML5. I am seeing many vendors still offering the ability to output screen recording and video to flash. Those who do offer both Flash and HTML5 are missing a simple and essential item to their arsenal.

Studio has always been known for the PowerPoint to Flash approach, but it also includes audio narration, TOC (yeah!) and customized player. Well besides my rankings of course, think about this: 1st vendor to offer collaboration and peer review. 1st vendor to have online/offline mobile synch. Oh, HTML5 output too.

One vendor already offers it in 2012, and knowing this industry – if something takes off and works, others will follow. Listen you love flash. In 2012, I’ve seen a slow uptake with tools that can output to HTML5. In 2012, I’ve seen a slow uptake with tools that can output to HTML5.

But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is this just DON’T GET IT. For consumers in general, smartphones are number one in the market, then PGPs (Portable Game Players) and so on. near the bottom e-readers and tablets. Fastest growing segments – tablets & e-readers.

Interestingly, a large portion of LMS vendors have not optimized their products for the iPad/ iPad2 and with the exception of two content authoring tools, HTML5 capabilities, specifically the ability to output a course in HTML5 does not yet exist. Look at the numbers of WOW (World of Warcraft) players.

I can honestly say, the ATD show is changing from ILT driven (it has always been that way) to e-learning improvement. This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . The more I thought about it, the more I liked it.

Layers and Conditions – if you have experience with Photoshop or similar products that use layers, then your learning curve is less. Ability to change the animated character in a set position, simply by inserting another – even though the other character is not set up in that position. Numerous steps to view in HTML5.
