I’d rather create a bunch of Captivate tutorials and job aids to let people learn at their own pace, when they need to use the skills. Application training via a synchronous tool like WebEx, Adobe Connect, or Elluminate too often ends up with passive learners. The idea of a time limit was good, but the timing itself was way off.

When I give a presentation live and face to face, it is qualitatively different for me and my audience to a presentation I give through Elluminate or Adobe Connect. But students do use all of these tools, and the trick is to ensure that they are comfortable with each, and have the requisite skills to exploit each tool to its optimum value.
