Whenever a comparison of eLearning authoring tools is published, Captivate still is considered to be the best tool for creation of software tutorials. It can be used as standalone asset; the viewer only needs a mp4 player which is available on each system. It is a purely passive tutorial. Integration in a website is very easy.

In a previous posts, we looked at how to copy text from old Flash courses and how to transcribe them using into new slides. How to Convert the Course to HTML5. For this demo, I am going to use Screen2Gif because it works well for this demo that has a lot of slides, it’s easy to use, and it’s free.

Tutorials – but as you see below they really messed up on how to view them. After clicking to view the tutorial, you go to the Articulate community web site and often it takes you to the top of the page, so you have to scroll down to see the tutorial. Mobile Player app – Major stinker. Add a New Slide.

This short example has two slides: First slide shows a countdown animation and a progress bar. That slide is using the new While loop. The second slide is using the “Go to Next State” command both for the text items and the images with the sticky character. Example movie. Typekit integration.

That said, I wish they would offer the option of a true tree option, rather than the standard “slide” icon layout. Tutorials when opening the product – Good, but. Slide properties – I have a pet peeve with the term (slides) instead of the terms of chapter, page, etc. Record narration. I saw none.
