I’ll be the first to admit, that I was not a big fan of the previous versions of the Plateau system. My concerns were the front end UI (what the end user sees), the admin UI and reporting. After viewing the Plateau TMS, my concerns in one area have been eliminated, in others, not so much. All come with the Report Designer.

Corporate LMSs were invented almost 30 years ago to manage and report on the training and compliance of their employees and contractors. Innovation was stagnant and most vendor effort was invested in stealing customers from one another. SAP acquired SuccessFactors who had acquired Plateau. Learning management systems didn’t die.

There is a growing list of vendors, including small/mid size that are adding talent management components that match the Big Dog systems. A couple of vendors have added HRIS modules. It is interesting to note, that many of the vendors are targeting the SMB space, especially the small size (less than 500 employees) market.

Once a darling of vendors who used it to show their demos, now? In fact, in 2019, I did not see one demo from a vendor on Adobe Connect. Personally a vendor can call their system whatever they want, but there are a few factoids to remember about micro-learning. Cumbersome? Not so much. You tell me, is that a good thing?

Since my Top 10 list of LMS vendors has been posted online, I have received quite a bit of e-mail wondering why the biggest names: Cornerstone On Demand, Saba, SumTotal and SuccessFactors are not on the list. From a general product standpoint, go take a look at Amazon.com or Consumer Reports. ” (Empowered News).

The earliest applications in online learning are probably for high-stakes simulations: teaching skills in fields like surgery and defense, where learners really need to practice a lot before they go out and try their new skills in the real world. We think this one has a relatively clear path to the Plateau of Productivity. eventually.
