Im struck by why I find this topic so interesting. Learning Styles and Fortune Telling: We like learning styles because we get a flash of recognition ; we see ourself as a pattern. The author cited two learning styles tests which came in at.60 And on that note, I think Im pretty much done now with my learning styles assignment.

Im guessing youre designing online distance learning courses. Im in the weird place of for-profit education, which really has characteristics of both market sectors. Having just a bachelors degree seems to be fine as long as you arent working directly for the universities (Im not sure about K-12 online). What do you do?

Our tools still require the user to work in the Flash environment, but you really dont need to know Flash. And this was the seed that led to a conversation with Clive Shepherd that led to the 30-minute masters. This hasnt gotten onto my radar before -- Im not sure if there are any state-funded online programs in Massachusetts. Within higher ed, Im sure well continue to see growth in online, but it is starting to plateau a bit. The more fun lessons were completely original Flash, highly interactive, with humor not only allowed but encouraged.

Brent Schlenker of the eLearning Guild, commented on my post Memoirs of an Instructional Designer : Im one of the unfortunate ones with a actual honest to goodness Masters Degree in EdTech. I heard even David Merrill say that all MS students need to learn things like Flash, etc. The degree opens many doors but thats about it.

I moved on to eLearning development and can say - I aint no techie.but most techies I know (those designing webpages, using Flash) dont really understand education. Im with you all. I did informal needs analysis on a daily basis, I wrote measurable objectives and built level 2 evaluations and authentic assessment items.
