I think Im somewhat of an anomaly in the field. Maybe Im not an instructional designer at all. Christy uses HTML, Dreamweaver, and sess Flash in her future. Course developers (who may or may not be instructional designers) use Flash to create courses, but they dont need to know how to use Flash at all. Easy breezy.

Im struck by why I find this topic so interesting. Learning Styles and Fortune Telling: We like learning styles because we get a flash of recognition ; we see ourself as a pattern. The author cited two learning styles tests which came in at.60 And on that note, I think Im pretty much done now with my learning styles assignment.

Im guessing youre designing online distance learning courses. Im in the weird place of for-profit education, which really has characteristics of both market sectors. Having just a bachelors degree seems to be fine as long as you arent working directly for the universities (Im not sure about K-12 online). What do you do?

Cousin, I do consider myself to be a gamer and while my interests used to fall into the "Grand Theft Auto" category, over the past couple of years I have moved more to PC games and since I have limited time with two kids.online flash games (some with an educational tilt). This hasnt gotten onto my radar before -- Im not sure if there are any state-funded online programs in Massachusetts. Within higher ed, Im sure well continue to see growth in online, but it is starting to plateau a bit. The K-12 market is pretty wide open though, so theres lots of opportunities for rapid growth there.

Our tools still require the user to work in the Flash environment, but you really dont need to know Flash. If youre providing SMEs with the templates, Im not sure theyll be altering them. Brent Schlenker of the eLearning Guild, commented on my post Memoirs of an Instructional Designer : Im one of the unfortunate ones with a actual honest to goodness Masters Degree in EdTech. The degree opens many doors but thats about it. I heard even David Merrill say that all MS students need to learn things like Flash, etc.
