This YouTube-based learning environment was founded in 2004 by former Boston hedge-fund manager Salman Khan, and today contains more than 2,200 lectures on more than 100 topics (mostly math related). In an effort to bridge the time and distance gap, he started making 10-minute videos of math lessons and posting them on YouTube.

So, here’s my leap from that “over-the-partition” informal learning scenario to how social media can support social learning: YouTube (in other words, video learning). Because video can be the virtual “over-the-partition” colleague. What users really want is to lean over the partition and say “Hey, how do I do this?” It is amazing ho.

Personally, I’m still working on every new project to fine tune the proper “documentation ratio.&# Properly documenting expectations, responsibilities, and success factors can be one of the most vital aspects of successful project management, but it’s so often overlooked or treated as merely an exercise. It is amazing ho.

With deadlines and budget pressures always present, it’s easy to jettison these “soft&# elements.
