At the VLE is Dead symposium , there was an issue over the term PLE (Personal Learning Environment). or the PLE and rename will be a little more difficult, I predict. is a case in point.

VLEs are generally difficult to use, with far too much effort needed to be put into understanding how the system works, to the detriment of the time and effort spent actually learning. If we time jumped from then to 2009, the way we now communicate, learn, search for information, share content and consume entertainment would be unrecognisable.
