This manufacturing process training course was originally delivered as a four hour plus death-by-PowerPoint classroom session (if you could see the original PPT source content, youd begin glazing over within a few slides). This hasnt gotten onto my radar before -- Im not sure if there are any state-funded online programs in Massachusetts. As I recall, she has two kids in high school who are taking online courses, and thats what got her interested in ID and e-learning. And its increasingly being funded as part of the U.S. public school system.

Self-direct learning experience == a standard course prepared and available on a web site. Learning objects: standard small chunks put together and done in a rapid e-learning experience. They often dont take courses unless required/certification. New generation of e-Learning is more disruptive.
