School should be a place where children learn, not somewhere they feel pressurised to perform. It generates grades which are then added to a database to indicate how well the school is doing, and ultimately feeds into statistics to work out school league tables. Governments are more interested in ensuring that their statistics and metrics continue to rise, than they are about children's learning. Everyone is forced to perform at a level that aligns to what those in power expect. Everyone is distracted from the business of learning by the need to 'perform'. Unported License.

These statistics were published before the change of government. He performs poorly again, doesn't want to do any homework or put any effort in, and struggles to catch up. He becomes a truant.
