SumTotal Learning Management – They have come a long way. I readily admit for the longest time I was not a fan of SumTotal, but that was then, this is now. B2B external is good, definitely needs improvement in some areas. Definitely a system to watch in 2020. Enterprise is a definite. Enterprise, mid-market.

They are definitely Top 10, just not top five or one. Cornerstone used to do a great job at it, which is why many people have heard of them, SumTotal too. Nothing that says – they are the only ones doing this, and no one else is. Nor, that they are the best system in the industry, period. They do not have an elite system.

Cornerstone Learning is a full ecosystem, and with Cornerstone Development, new features coming this summer that should definitely make it a solution to watch, is their LXP. When someone says traditional, they often are referring to Cornerstone, SumTotal, Saba, SuccessFactors and alike. They are definitely not an LMS. Never hear it, even though Blackboard has been around since the late 90’s (as online that is). . But flip over onto corporate and the floodgates open.

Brightspace by D2L is a definite wildcard here. Raven360 – Customer education-focused system, more so than a combo, and definitely right on the edge, this would be the call in – Raven360 vs Open LMS. They have every feature you would need to land the customer education market. Super close. Not a top 16, nor top 20 IMO.

There are definitely some low-end LMS products that are easy to get up and going. They are rapidly growing features that are far beyond what anyone needs.

It’s definitely going somewhere. SumTotal - Another Top 30 LMS vendor and when I have been able to see the product, I continue to see improvements. I have a better chance of shooting a toy rocket into outer space and having it land on the moon, then having a full one on one demo with SumTotal.

People either love or hate Cornerstone OnDemand, SumTotal Learn, Saba, SuccessFactors. It will impact your decision-making process. Functionality. Say open source?

If you want an HCM, that CoD is a definite player and one you should consider. I would add that it definitely has a feel for the MediaCore VLP (Video Learning Platform) that Workday bought earlier this year. What was their methodology? How many vendors did they consider? The Low Price Scale Box. I’m sure you have seen it.

Cornerstone OnDemand is coming out with a new user interface – I’ll be seeing it later this week – and it definitely – just in the small bits I saw – looks intriguing. SumTotal is also coming out with a new UI for their learning side. Create a new edition for corporate and change the UI.

For folks who think I ignore the big dog vendors, sorry to disappoint, but Saba, SumTotal Learn and Cornerstone Learning Suite are in the Top 50. They are missing some standards in the LEP space. So, hence the five.

Definitely someone to watch. SumTotal Learn. In test mode with Augmented Reality as we speak. Deep learning not yet and some more modifications are in order. NexGen market growth rate is fantastic. Cornerstone Learning Suite is next in line, they were a little slow with Tier 1, but upped their game in Tier 2 and definitely Tier-3. SumTotal. I definitely see them hitting quite a bit of Tier-4, but as a system who is more of an HCM, there is always a concern on where the R&D will be heavily pushed to.
