I would estimate that there was a 60-40 split, still instructor led driven, but even a significant number of the ILT vendors were offering subsets or capabilities to turn their ILT into online via webinars or online courses. Mobile Learning. ILT heading into the online path in one way or another.

I saw a lot more folks than in previous shows and more e-learning vendors too. Equally there were several ILT vendors who had some type of online learning thing going on. Still there are plenty of hold outs on the ILT side, especially those creating “leaders” or developing coaches.

Basically the synchronous approach is in essence, shoving ILT online with some discussion threads, whereas the end user enters in some text, others respond, and they hope the instructor is active in the experience (many are not). Ask them who would be your point of contact – it may not be the person who is doing the RFP. Do you want to offer people to register for ILT or webinars on their own? As you can see, just saying one item and assuming the vendor knows what you want is not enough. For example: you want a calendar. Ask for specifics.
