What I really like is that they aren’t trying to be focused solely on the large enterprise space, which too many vendors across the industry see as the “mighty” Rather small biz (5-500), small enterprise (501-999), Enterprise (1,000-10,000) are their strong spots. . Who would have thought that too many folks still think xAPI is open for debate, but CMI-5 seems to make sense? Who would have known that press agencies still have no idea on what an LMS is compared to say a content aggregator selling courses for B2C? ASTDTK14 zoomed into Vegas last week with about 60 vendors (est.) On the expo side, and I know ASTD Events are going to disagree with me (err, they already have via Linkedin), I wasn’t overly impressed on the number of vendors’ booths. Conferencing vendors – Were there any? Wi-Fi for booth vendors was horrible.

What some folks will do, vendor wise, is tie-in the skills driven angle with their system itself or within the KRT. When a vendor does this, the “must complete it” it tells me they were/are unaware of why WBT and online learning was designed in the first place. More LMS vendors to offer some content/courses for free.

Rather than go into a whole diatribe about CMI-5, I recommend you read this info on CMI-5 (put together in part from vendor RISC). Standard adoption takes time (as we can see with xAPI), so if you are concerned or worried about having to go with CMI-5, etc. As such, I will go with the proper term of xAPI (now and going forward).
