10 – Meridian - Despite a web site that should be kicked into outer space (hello, update?), How a vendor of this size and quality can have this business approach in this day and age is beyond me. The user interface is slick – way better than the days of Plateau – which some people still call it – uh, its not.

Oracle then followed suit by acquiring SuccessFactors who had acquired Plateau in the past. I’m sure the people who had purchased Plateau or even SuccessFactors Learning system were delighted to hear the news. “Training” sliding under HCM? To me, this is how vendors skirt the issue. . I highly doubt it.

There is a growing list of vendors, including small/mid size that are adding talent management components that match the Big Dog systems. A couple of vendors have added HRIS modules. It is interesting to note, that many of the vendors are targeting the SMB space, especially the small size (less than 500 employees) market.

What really bothers me more so, is when certain learning system vendors tell me they do not offer social or NexGen functionality because their clients either do not want it or because of security concerns by the client.
