SCORM stands for Shareable Content Object Reference Model and is a collection of industry standards for elearning courses and LMS systems that support it. Having a set of standards allows for communication between systems, and the same SCORM file should work across most LMS without a problem. SCORM 2004 (formerly known as 1.3).

A PowerPoint is not an effective means of e-learning, although one person told me what did a PPT have to do with any of this? This is not ABA standards or whatever. Gardner in 2000, said there was little evidence for his theory to be true, and again in 2004. Quality e-learning is interactive and engaging. Two Data Points.

PowerPoint – Ability to integrate or use PPT in your courses. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Over 98% of the LMS/LCMS/learning platform have at least one compliance standard, so why use a RCAT that doesn’t? It isn’t. Disgusting. .

Some people might convert their PPT to a video (it can be done) OR they have that production facility and shoot their own high quality videos OR they purchase 3rd party content video courses. With Video Learning Platforms – video can be what the consumer market identifies as video (usually the case) and yes, equally screen recordings.

HTML5 output including a PPT converter to HTML5. What makes them different than a LMS is the lack of analytics and common standard features including uploading 3rd party content.
