The problem is that for the trade show (expo floor) it is just a combination of the web site you can see and the map. ASTD TechKnowledge – if you are an e-learning vendor this is a must show for you. Many vendors I talked to tell me that in reality, most shows are money losers for them.

Because the company was using Windows 2000 (in 2012 no less) and the LMS vendor did not support Windows 2000. Did the insurance company’s lead tell the vendor what they were using? Did the vendor ask? Some vendors can flow with that, others say they can and sure enough, they can’t.

E-Commerce. Customized skinning – albeit in today’s market there are some vendors who charge for skins – disgusting! Modules in 2012. Excluding the above, there are vendors out there who charge extra for. Social learning – in many cases it is a more robust than your standard chat, discussion, etc.

I have seen systems on consumers’ servers have bandwidth problems especially if they do not have load backing. When you need a fix, then the LMS vendor must work with you either remote to solve it or if it is big nasty fix, go on site. Systems have come a long way from the days of yesteryear.

E-Learning has been minimal. However, this clearly had changed in 2012. I would estimate that there was a 60-40 split, still instructor led driven, but even a significant number of the ILT vendors were offering subsets or capabilities to turn their ILT into online via webinars or online courses. I have no problem recommending this system and have it listed as number 25 in my top 25 learning management systems of 2012. While I have a concern with their partners (I mean how well do they handle support? Are hosting costs universal? What about assistance in general?), the product as a whole is of great value.

As a former training director I had enough problems with users buzzing me about whatever, but having the name of the vendor too would not be good. E-commerce fee per year. E-Commerce with many vendors is included nowadays. At the end of 2012, was #4, now it is #6. Charging to remove their name of the system.
