The Help documentation is very concise about the Library: [link] It has a good description of the columns in the Library panel. Even when you delete the items from slides (stage), they will remain in the Library and can be reused. Captivate users tend to insert assets one by one on slides using the Media Button.

When you add audio to a slide, it appears as a separate ‘element’ in the timeline. You can synchronize the audio with the slide by adjusting its timeline. The audio that must ideally end with a slide spills over to the next slide. A single audio file helps to keep the continuity in the narration intact.

To help with the creation of content Adobe ELearning Suite also contains: Photoshop for working with graphic files such as JPG and GIF images. So I saved it to a WAV file, which was quite large, and then saved that as an MP3 file which worked quite well -- a small compact file plus it kept both tracks.
