Take a look at the infographic below by open-site.org showing trends in library usage and what we will continue to see come: The end of the Dewey Decimal System? Public libraries have served a valuable function in the American society. Seeing the winds of change blow in a new era for education and training is exciting. Maybe. | LEARNING WITH E'S MARCH 2, 2012 Library 2.0 What does the future hold for our university libraries? The library has long been seen by many as a very traditional, conservative institution, and is often portrayed as a place where rows upon rows of antiquated book shelves slowly gather dust. Yet a visit to the university library today will reveal a substantial investment in technology to streamline research and provide users with a more seamless and rewarding experience. Libraries are shaking off this image, and embracing new technologies and approaches to support learning in the 21st Century. In Library 2.0 firstly wanted to find out what the contemporary library had to offer today's 'tech savvy students'. The answer was four-fold - libraries provide content, services, spaces and skills. | DONT WASTE YOUR TIME JULY 24, 2012 UK Copyright – making sense of it These are really good videos to watch and share as they cover different aspects of how copyright has an impact on what we do, as professionals or individuals, and are worth sharing with colleagues and students (especially the last two on libraries, DRM, and license agreements). IGNATIA WEBS | FRIDAY, AUGUST 24, 2012 Why and how to use #Mendeley to create a #research library Four days ago I came across this wonderful post from Patrick Dunleavy on why he choose Mendeley to become his personal research library organizer. He gives a good account on how he uses it, but what I was missing in the post was a comprehensible quick userguide, introducing the Mendeley features. Luckily my esteemed and warm-hearted colleague Prashanth Srinavas just finalized a presentation right on the subject. It is a great way to get up to speed with Mendeley in a minimum of time. The thing I like about Mendeley is that they finally got onto Android as well last year. MORE >> -
