But even when theres a visual that needs examination, it might be more effective to provide a rollover rather than explaining the image with an audio presentation. Youre right.

Slide 22 of Stephen Downes presentation includes a diagram: Messy vs. Neat. Is a messy training program just one in which the presenter is clearly not organized? The training doesnt teach what the participants want or need (failure to consult with actual learners while designing the program). But Im learning.

There are great tools with a short learning curve (for example, Adobe Captivate and Articulate Presenter) and tools with a longer learning curve that are really excellent (for example, Lectora, and Flashform). My role is to help start up a web based training program. It works within PowerPoint so that any one who knows PPT can quickly come up to speed to create a nice looking presentation. It is good for creating more advanced courses that require more customization than Articulate. Articulate and Lectora do not do simulations.
