Elluminate did not work through several firewalls, so we had to switch to WebEx. Really, this is the same situation as what you face in internal software with some set of Corporate IT staff having access to content (likely including email). It's still better than having to install software behind the firewall.

Elluminate has real-time captioning available (I’ve never seen anyone use this in a presentation before–very nicely done. Text-to-speech software. Hearing audio content. I know there are free authoring tools, but even small companies can afford a few software licenses. Get a license to Webex, Elluminate or something similar (perhaps even a free web conferencing tool like DimDim) to provide the capability to run live online sessions.

I would choose something like Elluminate Live for my synchronous activities. Elluminate's learning curve is a much more gentle slope. Orientation Island therefore is a must!

Firewalls and restrictive corporate environments caused us considerable grief: Yahoo Groups were restricted in some corporate environments, Elluminate did not work through several firewalls, we had to switch to WebEx and that really goofed up the start of the course; Yahoo Toolbar (for MyWeb ) couldn't be installed on locked desktops.
