I think Im somewhat of an anomaly in the field. Maybe Im not an instructional designer at all. I think my dinosaur status as an instructional designer stems from the fact that Ive always worked for e-Learning vendors where the programming, graphics, and ID are distinct, separate job roles. They often use slick video to show a concept while a voice-over explains everything, so the learners only role is to passively absorb. Im not saying to leave the info a mystery; Im saying that Ive seen a lot of elearning that seems to underestimate the intelligence of the learner and makes every little thing painfully explicit.
