Illustration vs photography for elearning

Sponge UK

Choosing a visual style for your elearning often comes down to illustrations versus photography. Stock images Most stock image libraries include photos and illustrations. If you’re not getting your photography, or your illustration created for your course, then you’re missing out on the impact it can offer. It was shot at a National Press Club discussion about the crisis in Darfur, and the original picture also featured George Clooney.

Telling your story

Learning with 'e's

Today I was involved in teaching a session for a BA group on the use of digital photography and communication. I couldn't resist capturing the photo, because it was so iconic and representative of the children in this part of the world, and it conveyed innocence and hope. I decided to use a reworked version of the picture of the young girl in a blog post called ' What Price Education? ' Blogs are not simply about text.

The best free PowerPoint templates online

Slidesgo also has some lovely photography-heavy free PowerPoint templates. An effective presentation uses photography intentionally to tell a story, not just to make slides look pretty. It might be best to use these templates for inspiration; see how they are constructed and then build your own version with your own images. A word of warning – don’t pick a deck just because you like the images used: photography is likely not actually included in the template.

Video Creation: The Basics

TechSmith Camtasia

If you have a camera that shoots video and photos (like a DSLR) don’t forget to switch to photography mode and get high quality stills too. Shooting stills in photography mode will always produce better images than pulling from your video because they’ll be much higher resolution. If you don’t have a DSLR, use your smartphone to take pictures. If you’ve never made a video before this post will dig into a high level workflow of how it’s done.

Using Custom Artwork to Build Beautiful eLearning Without Breaking the Budget

eLearning Architect

We've all spent hours in front of eLearning or PowerPoint presentations filled with dodgy clipart or stock photos. but I am sick and tired of seeing eLearning courses that use irrelevant stock photography - it's no wonder that we repeatedly hear learners saying "eLearning is so boring and ugly". (I We asked the artist to send both the black and white and colour versions of the artwork which didn't increase their workload but gave us double the amount of images to use).

Insights from a presentation designer: Q&A with Julie Terberg

BrightCarbon

Even though this beast had fewer features than the first version of Photoshop, clients were thrilled with the concepts that we helped them design and take away on paper. There are a few original copies remaining and we are working on an updated version. Getting clients to think outside the box with slide design is so much easier if you can show them a ‘for instance’ to paint the picture for them. Photography can also be inspiring.

How to Do Video Marketing on Social Media for Course Creators with Jason Hsiao from Animoto

LifterLMS

Things that are alive move, and that attracts more attention and engagement than still photos. I don’t have a $5000 computer with Final Cut Pro and all this stuff, but they do know how to take pictures. Can you talk about the origin of working with just pictures? In fact, the name Animoto is some kind of combination like animated photos. You could have up to like 25 photos, sometimes people had none, or just five and they weren’t that good.

Big Niches and Creating an Ecosystem Around Your Tribe with Avery White of Third Person Creative

LifterLMS

Avery shares some great examples of telling stories through media formats like photography. If I show you a picture of a plant, like a still life kind of shot, you can only derive so much story, but if I were to show you a picture of a girl on a train, and let’s say she’s got her hand up against the glass, and outside is this blurry picture of this guy that’s running to try to keep up with the train, but it’s a still shot, that’s a story.

Then, I might have you submit a photo or an essay about what happened, what was your experience applying that information. Send me a picture of what happened or describe what actually happened when you applied it and tried to make it work for you. It’s no longer just a video-based version of a text book, it’s an immersive, interactive coaching program with the feedback loops open and the ability to act on those feedback laps with improvement and coaching.

His plugin started to gain traction and was getting lots of feature requests, so John created a pro version. I started building those, and I would release the pro version of that plugin. Freemium being you have a free product with an upsell to a paid version. I’ve used your free version.
