When I spoke with Adobe support regarding the issue, I was informed that the recording file in Microsoft PowerPoint uses the m4a file format. .

You can import wav's or mp3's. First, there's a production speed benefit. If you're not concerned with saving production time, perhaps my second reason for adding voiceover audio at the slide level will get your attention. Looking to learn Captivate quickly?

A general approach in which developers use any standard authoring tool such as Articulate or Lectora and use stand-alone TTS on-demand services/products to create audio files that are then linked or embedded in the presentation.
