Despite overall consumer demand (not just within e-learning) for tablets, and numbers showing that tablets are outselling notebooks, e-learning vendors as whole are sitting back and waiting. Google – including Google Maps, Google Charts, Google Docs, etc. Mailchimp – e-mail marketing.

Most folks just toss that stuff in the trash, and when you think about it; isn’t it about time we focused more on saving paper i.e. the trees, then spending time tossing slick ad docs into a bag? Why as an e-learning vendor you should attend this show. It was as though brick and mortar stores had never left.

Theres nothing in ADDIE about learning objects or the presentation of information. Most e-Learning vendors mention ADDIE or some form thereof on their websites as if it was a real science about creating effective learning. 2 ► January (14) Learning Visions Has Moved What Is Instructional Design?

But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is this just DON’T GET IT. E-Learning 24/7. Tablets there.tablets there.tablets everywhere. Yes, I love consumer slate tablets. Yes, I own one. No, I do not own shares. Having my own virtual desk, is personal. I like that.

Options 1) Go on Linkedin and post the question about the vendor and ask for feedback, good or bad. Place the question in numerous training groups – say ASTD National, eCube (excellent source for e-learning folks), etc. Is Google docs cloud computing? E-Learning 24/7. So what can do?

I think my dinosaur status as an instructional designer stems from the fact that Ive always worked for e-Learning vendors where the programming, graphics, and ID are distinct, separate job roles. 2 ► January (14) Learning Visions Has Moved What Is Instructional Design? E-Learning development houses need to be able to demonstrate a clear value in their services. Why should companies go with e-Learning vendors when rapid e-Learning tools are available? Have the e-Learning vendor create the first few custom programs. I completely agree with this.
