First of all, their system is web-hosted and free ; you don't have to download any software or manage your own servers. Second, their Resources section allows you to graphically browse thousands of community-contributed resources by topic; you can even upload your own resources and they will host them for you. I would have thought that Google, Yahoo or MSN would get the ball rolling first, with a free hosted LMS . Edublogs just announced they are hosting 100,000 Edublogs . In fact we've currently got more like 103,000 blogs, separated over four sites (63K on edublogs.org and 39K spread across the student sites). In September at edublogs.org alone we racked up 268,638 unique visitors, who dropped by 904,053 times enjoying 13,701,840 page views while sucking up almost 500Gig bandwidth. And that's just that one site's blogs.

There always seems to be a debate about whether or not an organization should host a Learning Management System (LMS) application internally or externally. An informed client needs to consider costs as well as some questions about the ability to host internally. have to admit, I lean toward having a vendor host the solution. There are arguments on both sides. I
