Most of the new authoring tools either use PPT as their backbone or offer the ability to import slides. Interface creation, navigation buttons, LMS tracking, and testing abilities are then typically added to the PPT functionality. Using these new tools meant that I had to start using PPT. Everyone has PPT.

Transitions, Animations, Views – I am fine using it once, but again, new product-new version, so why I am still seeing PowerPoint within this product to such a point, that TAV are exactly the same as in PPT? The Ribbon makes change and I am off to the races. In fact, much of the screen changes. Really missed it there.

PowerPoint – Ability to integrate or use PPT in your courses. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Listen, Authorware is dead, so why create a product that is trying to bring it back to life with your own product? Barely moving (please change that).

Compared to building courses in Flash or Authorware, the rapid elearning tools are easy to use. Another site that I like is Making Change. Every time i make PPT presenations I get confused what colors. There are a lot of other good books I could recommend, but this is a good start and covers a lot of the basics.

Macromedia Authorware and similar products. While some could argue that Authorware was a RCAT, I disagree. That has changed. PPT or Word to Flash and the end user can add a TOC, some assessments, audio, video, even additional flash learning objects and attachments. Macromedia Director. HTML and Javascript. This is now.

If the developer makes a change based on the feedback, he can mark the item as fixed. On the other hand if the developer does not agree that a change is required, or if he has a question about the feedback, he can type a note to that effect and send that information back to the tester. Captivate 4 will change this significantly.
