Diigo recently released version 3 of their social bookmarking application. The biggest change in this version is really the emphasis on the social part of social bookmarking. You can also have a profile and add friends like social networking sites.

Older versions are archived. What makes it social is that, with the right permissions, individuals on the network can view all of the tagged articles and blog entries and see which were tagged the most. Social Network. It is so named because of the speed in which wiki software allows someone to update the web site.

Diigo - or any other social bookmarker Diigo is very important to keep track off your online sources. An alternative to this bookmark tool is delicious. If you want to try screencasting, start with the free version of screencast-o-matic. Ning is more focused on social interaction, works well and is affordable.

Versioning. Academic Networking. Social networks now are either about content (flickr, delicious) or people (Facebook, LinkedIn). Apparently content networks shun capital letters). Academic networking: friends isn’t enough. The unSakai (bringing Sakai data to users wherever they are).

I also like to make occasional visits to Google Labs and Adobe Labs to "keep up" with the tech tools they are working on and to test drive any beta versions available. When I do find interesting tools I will keep track of them using my Delicious account. Tagged either under Development Tools or Cloud.
