Well, Yammer has released a new Outlook plugin. The plugin adds a Yammer pane inside the Outlook window, integrating Yammer with one of the most used application in the enterprise. Yammer is an enterprise collaboration tool that lets you easily connect and share with the people in your company or organization (like an internal Twitter). Download the Yammer Desktop Application to follow and participate in Yammer conversations on your Mac or Windows desktop. Yammer also has applications for iPhones and Blackberry. Stand-alone options such as Yammer , Present.ly , Socialcast and Socialwok  (amongst others) have cloud-based and internal VPN instances that you can deploy, but again, I argue that you should bring this functionality inside of your organization for reasons concerning intellectual property and security.
