Web sites yes. When you need a fix, then the LMS vendor must work with you either remote to solve it or if it is big nasty fix, go on site. Even one time open source systems are starting to offer hosting for an additional cost. It is a way to counter free open source systems. Bottom Line.

Type “Social learning LMS&# in your search engine or “Social Learning&# in your search engine and start going into the pages and not just looking at page one.

Authoring tool salesperson or site makes it look so easy to create this interactive course, but unless you have an ID skill set and with tech skills, it won’t happen. E-Learning vendors offer training or tell you they have robust training, you find out it is PDF guides with an accompanying video. It’s not.

Many in the education market are still in love with open source systems, such as Moodle. Ancient features such as discussion boards/text chat/forums – I offered these babies back in 1995 on my web site. Google apps – free for education – as long as you follow their specific guidelines. Time to move on!
