For example. If I notice Im losing someones attention in class, Ill instantly make direct eye-contact, maybe raise an eyebrow, and start talking directly to that student, and most of the time. Im the same when teaching face-to-face -- big user of the laugh to create connection. you get their attention again.

Im a Word power-user and love all the little tricks and shortcuts. I agree that it will be a process of Conversion by Example. Folks I have talked to resist the idea of the wiki -- they think wikipedia, they think "amateurs" trashing your content. I started off cutting and pasting a lot of documents from Word into the wiki.

Im not sure if the SME was reading a script, reading the notes, or just speaking from the heart. Put the content where it can be accessed. And create content that learners will trust. Im not sure how this relates to danah boyds recent blog article on Viewing American class divisions through FaceBook and MySpace. Im a major geek, yet I avoid Second Life and continue to be skeptical about its use in elearning. For example, I just Googled "second life women." This is a main way of staying connected to friends.

We review the content at a high level. Schedules dont always work out, so more often this is a one-on-one tour of the software and the content notes with the trainer.

For example, visuals with minimal explanation would require the learner to participate more in creating sense of the materials. Im not saying to leave the info a mystery; Im saying that Ive seen a lot of elearning that seems to underestimate the intelligence of the learner and makes every little thing painfully explicit.
