I’ve never heard someone say, “Sheesh, I need an LMS that is SCORM certified, or what your authoring tool is not AICC certified? I still see course libraries that are only AICC. Here is my take.

A product called Macromedia Flash (being used with web sites) became a go to for course development. Many of us, searched sites, such as this little known one called Amazon.com, which sold only books. Output was AICC (boo) and SCORM. Other course authoring tools started to appear right after Authorware. I used DazzlerMax.

What about AICC? Unless you purchased a tool that is only AICC compliant, which in that case, time to ditch it and get another one. If you purchased an AICC only, then you have to find a system that is AICC compliant. It can be SCORM too, but the AICC is the key. . SCORM is backward compatible, not forward. .

What I am finding is that AICC is nearly gone in the LEP space (as it is with LMSs too), so if I was you, I’d seek SCORM, SCORM 1.2, The unknown of course is when a person goes to a web site to read an article, whether the system can tell if they actually read the whole article or skimmed it, or was on the site for like five seconds.
