I'm not opposed to assessment - it's a vital part of pedagogy, because we need to know how our students are doing, but more importantly, students need to know their own progress, and what to do to improve. I believe in assessment for learning - providing students with constructive feedback to extend their learning.

They are forced to teach to the test , which detracts from good pedagogy and also leads to higher stress and anxiety levels, not only for the teachers themselves, but also for many of their students.
