In my latest directory, 393 LMS vendors – global, of which 34 or so are open source systems. In a market this size, and with so many vendors overly focused on the U.S. and not necessarily worldwide (which should be the case), there is bound to be those vendors who are seeking new opportunities.

A funny thing happened on the way to using GPT-4 last week, which I suspect that the vendors who have implemented GPT-4 and are using it as a statement/Q and A to the learners were not paying attention to. Turbo, which many vendors use that have OpenAI. Microsoft is not the only vendor that offers copilots.

Even one time open source systems are starting to offer hosting for an additional cost. I now pronounce you Authoring Tool and LMS, you may now integrate/interface.

Authoring tools whose interface either looks like to was written in 1997 (thus outdated) or is so confusing, that the premise of rapid, just is not possible. Quiz assessment tools and systems, that assume everyone wants to do T/F and M/C or Short Answer and T/F only. Admin side’s interface is non-user oriented.

Often, these posts have 287 or more responses from LMS vendors, each claiming they offer the best solution, given the overwhelming evidence provided in the original 2-sentence help request. If a vendor heavily pushes talent management, be aware that is not the same thing as skills management, and to me, makes me question what is the end game, because it hard to say TM first, and then push you are customer training B2B too. Has a built-in Business Intelligence tool (rare in the space). Functionality is quite good.
