Nothing like keeping their track record of missing the signs. I am hearing from some vendors that they are having issues with Windows 8 and that Microsoft typically makes it difficult to really make it work. E-Learning Vendors and Apps. M-Learning. Typically an add-on module – i.e. extra cost. A good vendor will have what is sort of called a “sniffer&# , whereas the solution can identify whether it is a Blackberry or Iphone or whatever and automatically switch to the appropriate product. E-Learning 24/7. One is Questionmark.

Track the player state by listening to certain events (buffer, complete, time). And then ask them if there is a cost for integrating APIs. It should be free, albeit I do know a vendor or two who charges a one-time fee for setting it up and doing this. Trust me, they will find other ways to recoup the alleged cost.

If you plan to track or have instructor led training, then this is relevant. Can you track the end users in it? Vendors who have partnerships with WebEx or whomever they use, typically require you to purchase a license, which is separate from the system. If you choose to use it, tracking is important. Even one time open source systems are starting to offer hosting for an additional cost. Savings of cost – ties into not building from scratch. Ability to use 3rd party authoring tool vendors is always a major plus – which most vendors do anyway – so adding this beyond ur new BFF is a no lose proposition.

Moodle can be a worthwhile system but it requires heavy customization, dedicated IT person who has Moodle skill sets (ideal), in-house support (because when end users can’t figure it out – they will come calling YOU) and costs that many folks fail to realize. I have seen systems that track by IP address, but in the web conf. The LMS vendor and the web conferencing vendor have formed a business partnership, that is why that specific web conferencing vendor is in place. It is a dual revenue stream for both vendors. .
