There is No "PowerPoint"

I don''t deny them a PowerPoint because they will probably compromise the instructional integrity of the courses, which is possible, or because I am selfish. For example, Captivate, Flash, ToolBook, Storyline, etc. My answer of "There is no PowerPoint" is usually not received well and followed by a tone of disbelief.

For the first time instructional designers could do more than simple page-turner training. Now instructional designers weren’t constrained by the limited functions in programs like IconAuthor. Back then there were no instructional models to follow like ADDIE, Kemp, Gagne, Bloom, and Mager. Very clunky, but very, very exciting!

We could learn Hypercard or we could learn Toolbook. I had chosen the corporate track so I selected Toolbook. Since the professor did not know either, they recruited a couple of the students in the class that already knew the tools to instruct the rest of us. Again, a huge let down.
