I had thought that this trend would be dying out, but it is amazing at the number of vendors who are entering the space and still focused on the desktop approach. For example, there were several vendors making their debut – as in their solution – at DevLearn. Most of the times, when the person shows the card, and the vendor talks to them, it goes no where.

ASTDTK14 zoomed into Vegas last week with about 60 vendors (est.) On the expo side, and I know ASTD Events are going to disagree with me (err, they already have via Linkedin), I wasn’t overly impressed on the number of vendors’ booths. Conferencing vendors – Were there any? Wi-Fi for booth vendors was horrible.

My latest take on those three vendors (plus one) are: Cornerstone On Demand – I have seen the new UI and I like what I saw. They also have a lot of partnerships with LMS vendors – so that adds to an additional distribution channel. . This is why, you see some vendors doing quite well and others who are not.

There are some good ones out there, and from a learning system standpoint some vendors in the B2B/B2C market are adding this capability.
