ILT is turning WBT in2 ILT online – its not working

eLearning 24-7

I focused on what makes WBT tick, what is the differences between WBT and ILT. They all were used to the ILT approach. They assumed that WBT, was like ILT but just online. . Because in their past, someone had followed that mantra and create courses based on ILT principles. It was ILT. ILT – the evil empire. ILT serves some purposes. Books, presentations, blogs that state follow the PPT mantra. I’m tired of hearing the excuses.

May Edition: E-Learning News and Notes

In this month’s issue, my tribute is to the 80′s a time where the Net wasn’t around, ILT was the dominant force, CBT was up and coming and WBT was just a dream. The partner approach works this way: vendor A integrates Vendor B’s solution into their product. Vendor B can still sell their product as a stand alone or however this wish to do it and can still sell it/integrate or use an interface into additional vendor’s solutions.

TechKnowledge 2012 – Post Assessment

eLearning 24-7

Nice selection of vendors – in general. More goodies then in the past, but the vendor with the awesome monkeys – it was nearly impossible to get one – you had a better chance of allowing them to stick leeches on you, then getting one – what’s the point of marketing – if the product you want to show – yours – isn’t walking the floor with folks. Less vendors scanning people’s ID badges, which I found interesting.

Rapid Content Authoring Tools: Market, Mayhem and Reality

eLearning 24-7

This is a growing market with new vendors showing up, but at the same time, others disappearing. If a RCAT vendor tells you they have been in business for over 10 years, they are somewhat misleading, since WBT courses really didn’t start to hit the mark until 2000 and then you have limited choices on how to build. Trainers handed the task of building courses and incorporate the builds as an extension of ILT – i.e. linear. 43 Vendors do not have one.

ILT – view events, manage events and sessions (only visible to admin), vendors & instructors (only visible to admin), facilities & resources (only visible to admin). ILT/classroom training. Courses under subject headers – example “accounting” Courses can be online or ILT or both. Resources – docs, video/audio files, podcasts, PPT, etc. In 1982 a film called Tron appeared on the silver screen.

Product Review: BlueVolt

eLearning 24-7

Many people today prefer 3rd party authoring tools and in fact, I recommend that route rather then using a vendor’s built in authoring tool. Featured Items- this can be WBT, seminars – online or offline (ILT), resources, videos, etc. Under course is a PPT 2010 QRC, yet under the categories section, you see “downloadable reference” Guess what? At one time BlueVolt was just a spark, a system among many other systems in the market.

Inability to have course be non-linear when live; it stays linear (another typical ILT feature), hint: WBT’s power is non-linear. Cannot move slides in the arrange mode – i.e. once you upload the PPT with the slide order, you cannot move say slide #9 to spot #4, rather you have to do this in PPT and then re-upload. I’m a big time fan of vendors who post their pricing on their site. I have been following Mindflash since it started as a beta.

EdCast vs Degreed vs Fuse – The Analysis

eLearning 24-7

How do you explain why these three vendors were selected, how the process for analysis was conducted, and what are the results? Why these three vendors? From the vendors themselves and even in conducting my own research into vendor comparisons. This is for virtual ILT.

Each PowerPoint slide appears in order, following your PPT order. For example: your first PPT slide is on the timeline then you add a word document, next an image file, another slide (your 2nd one in the deck u uploaded), then audio/movie and so on. ppt slide, quiz, image, etc.). Unless you planned to use the course in the classroom, which in this case, it would be an ILT course. Again, “presentation&# – ILT.

2014 Authoring Tools – State of Affairs

eLearning 24-7

So far in 2014, the authoring tool space hasn’t really come out with anyone earth shattering, that would make you stand up and scream “Brussels Sprouts are the new “spinach” Avatars and background templates continue to “in” - A few vendors are now adding “real life” scenario backgrounds- but “real life” is open to interpretation. Collaboration – How much longer are AT vendors going to push this out as “new”?

UpSkilling – Change the Mindset

eLearning 24-7

Let’s look into our crystal ball of the past and remember: Physical ILT – in your conference room, in a training classroom, at a hotel, at a trade show. Teaching your employees, Powerpoint – or how to create a deck in PPT, is the past, the new reality – teach them how to shoot video and utilize it in an effective means for delivering knowledge, insight and communication. . But virtual ILT only works to a point. Remote workers. Deskless workers.

LMS Review: Litmos

Talented Learning

See More Vendors in our LMS Directory. For example, I had to hunt for the ability to add an instructor and facility — and finally found it under the ILT integration listing. Supports multiple formats — avi, wmv, mpg, mov, flv, m4v, ppt, pptx, pdf, mp3, zip, doc, or swf. Manage ILT and virtual sessions from same workflow. See More Vendors in our LMS Directory.

Low Cost LMS - Help Needed

Tony Karrer

Situation description: I have talked to several vendors and have received quotes at the 6-8k (per year) range for the licensing. We have roughly 500 learners and would use the LMS for mainly tracking and registration of ILT courses, communication (possibly through message boards), and posting of class materials. Simply type the LMS vendor name or LMS name in the search bar and it should give you the per user/ per installation pricing. Smaller vendors may not be found.

ATD2015 Conference Post – Review

eLearning 24-7

That said, there were some hiccups and from an entire vendor wise (expo here) angle, some unique and some, uh. I can honestly say, the ATD show is changing from ILT driven (it has always been that way) to e-learning improvement. This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . I just can’t understand the “bricks and mortar” approach so many e-learning vendors use, unreal.

Don’t Just Transfer Classroom Training to E-learning – Transform!

CommLab India

Remote vendors? And for remote vendors, virtual classrooms can be the best way, as it becomes difficult for them to communicate their queries with self-paced courses. When you move your instructor-led training (ILT) programs online, you need to come up with the right e-learning design strategy to present the subject matter effectively. So, when developing e-courses from ILT material, first identify the best format to deliver the courses.

Build Gr8 Micro-Learning Course

eLearning 24-7

One well-known vendor told me they want people who are brand new to online learning course building, or if you think of a triangle, the bottom of that pyramid. People coming from ILT who have never built an e-learning course. Usually I find the PPT driven approach, due to it. I want to scream to every rapid course authoring tool vendor who does NOT have a “how to” create online learning course eBook or guide. Which in this case, are the majority of vendors.

Wake UP CLO’s – Change Now

eLearning 24-7

Dump ILT and paper. Video – A couple of vendors are adding video editing capability. Additional functionality such as notifications, e-mail (now), SMS (tomorrow, although there are vendors already offering it) exist within. And yes, maybe you went out of the box purchased a lesser known vendor’s platform and it failed for X or Y because they promised this and it didn’t do that, OR the product just stinks. .

The Corporate eLearning Ecosystem Explained

Module 1: PPT presentation. Connecting with one of these systems can be done in a number of ways: Productized – built by the software vendor to solve a solution for customers using their system. A developer can set up certain actions to take place between the two systems with the possibilities documented by the vendors. Webinar tools allow you run live sessions in webinar formats to reduce travel costs whilst still maintaining the human elements of ILT.

What if….? (E-Learning)

eLearning 24-7

What really bothers me more so, is when certain learning system vendors tell me they do not offer social or NexGen functionality because their clients either do not want it or because of security concerns by the client. Here is what will happen if people used the power of their authoring tool (sans Studio, which is really a PPT converter). And I equally agree that many authoring tool vendors do not provide tutorials on how to build a course (not just how to use their software).

Cammy Beans Learning Visions: The Value of Instructional Designers

Learning Visions

Do you work for eLearning development houses (vendors) or do you work within corporate training departments? No needs assessment, no functional spec, no design -- just get that ppt deck going and slap some e-learning together. One of the reasons is also that Graphic Designers often may not have much work, as sometime people just want ILT, or a few recorded sessions, other other delivery formats like remote training, that do no require heavy graphic or programming work.
