This morning, at ALT-C in Leeds, I attended Jane Hart's excellent presentation on the top 25 free tools for learning, I was familiar with most of these tools, but welcomed the opportunity to reflect on the extent to which I was maximising the potential benefit of each tool. Your slides are not your presentation, they are only one component.

There are many tools available for sharing slides, and if you really want to give your slidedecks impact, record an audio commentary to accompany it. Most hosting site provide the facility for you to add audio that synchronises with your slides.

I sent my slides to the event planner prior to the conference (as requested) and just assumed there would be Internet access. I’m 99% sure I was the most high-maintenance presenter there. Many vendors’ sites do not state this information in their pricing. My under 10K is based on a whole of 500 or less users; although there are systems below that far exceed that number and still slide under 10K. The site is in Swedish, but you can change the language by selecting country flags or by using Google Translate.

This morning I looked at a presentation on SlideShare by the head of learning of an Irish insurance company. Eight of the 33 slides were copied from a colleague’s presentation deck without attribution. The Irish presentation had been rekeyed. I have generally let this petty-thievery slide.
