There are vendors who refer to their system as a learning platform, or anti-LMS or not an LMS, but have the standard features of one. If someone spins they are a micro-learning platform, they slide under here. For the record, every system out there can do micro-learning, and have been able to, since 2000.

Reduces stress or resources on IS/IT at your primary location. Technical issues that arise – resources from your location are now dedicated to solve them. With the exception of my first LMS, which I built in 2000; I have always used hosted LMS/LCMS without security/privacy incidents. E-Learning 24/7.

While many companies see this as a non issue, remember that for many of these companies they exist in the Fortune 500 or Global 2000. Sure, Sony has found great success with SharePoint, but take a look at the resources available to them. Do you have such resources in-house at your company? It takes time, costs and resources.

Other cool components that are part of this system, Community Content Commons – repository of learning objects, resources – created, vetted and assessed by the Epsilen community, external content providers including CSIS and PBS. I love the graphical charts and the analytics are solid. The system is SCORM 2004 & 1.2

While folks who know CSS or have IT resources that can jump right in and do the CSS, most training execs I know – have no idea what CSS is and more importantly, how to code. COPs hit their heyday back in the mid 2000′s. Languages included – lots actually to choose from – more than previous.

What is nice about HTML5 is it is less taxing on cpu resources, you can add geolocation and APIs and you can do with it than you can with Flash (speaking of fire, I expect nothing less than hot tempers with that point). In 2000, I had a LMS in the cloud and felt safe. My USB is secure, until someone steals it. You can too.
