If you are an e-learning vendor exploring the SBM do not take them lightly, a few are slowly entering my 2nd trend. M-Learning follows suit. Systems will become optimized to work on the iPad and tablets in general, regardless of OS (RIM, Windows7, Symbian, Android). I see double digit growth in Lite LMSs in 2011.

Simply put, one vendor has over 200 Flash-based templates in their product. Another vendor I spoke with, is offering 80 templates. Other vendors are falling suit. The assessment tools can be quite expansive and include mobile outputs. Surveys and Polls can be instant (via mobile). . Here is the reality.

Yes, YouTube is a form of social media, but so is Pandora, and I’m unaware of any LMS vendor enabling Pandora in their system. Mobile Learning. But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is this just DON’T GET IT. near the bottom e-readers and tablets.

Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. You get the Flash code – YES – you get the code, which you can do whatever you want with it. iPod, mobile phones, YouTube, message boards, e-mail. 264 codec, which the iPad supports, and a few browsers for HTML5.

I would estimate that there was a 60-40 split, still instructor led driven, but even a significant number of the ILT vendors were offering subsets or capabilities to turn their ILT into online via webinars or online courses. Improved interactivity over Flash. Open Source not Proprietary like Flash. Uses 20% of computer resources compared to 40% for Flash – this makes a big difference when someone is trying to view anything, regardless of their internet connection (DSL, Cable, Modem, T1, etc.). Oh, e-readers – sure down the pipeline.

The product is Flash based, which is nice, but lack of mobile optimization for the iPad. Social Learning is limited. Vendors who are my clients are aware, prior for me working with them, that there is no quid pro quo, nor any special treatment given to them on my blog. Optimized for the iPad (one of the 1st).

Video goes in and out with the audio – They explain it has to do with the latest version of Flash, but how about coming up with an alternative. I’d love to know how you can use this with the iPad and Safari? Problems with recording audio. See an example below. Another irritation is that it saves it as a.flv file.
