Writing & Grammar: Ways to Deal With Tracked Changes Aversion

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

In my classes on editing with Word, I hear one complaint more than any other: "The people whose writing I am reviewing do not know how to use tracked changes." " "My boss hates tracked changes." " IconLogic reader Lia Scott adds, "Those who do attempt to use the online tracking often have difficulty following it--resulting in many double words, extra spaces and formatting issues. by Jennie Ruby.

Adobe Captivate: Analyze and Chart Quiz Data Without an LMS

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

In the past, if you created an eLearning quiz and needed to track the results, your only option was to use a Learning Management System (LMS). After that, you can use the Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer, a free AIR-based desktop application, to track the learner results.

I will begin this post with Paul's comment on FB and then track the conversation we had. How do we make people realize it is ok to ask for help, to not know, to learn, to feel like an expert at one point and like a novice at another, to alternate between being a teacher and a learner?

CMS: An Alternative to a LMS for those who seek Portals or Communities

eLearning 24-7

You can still create it as SCORM, SCORM 1.2/2004, but as a “web&# it won’t be tracked from the SCORM perspective, unless you locate a plugin or API that enables your CMS to be SCORM compliant – and well, good luck on that. While the race is on for people to get LMSs and LCMSs, there are some people who either do not want or need a LMS/LCMS, but want to create a learning community or more often, some type of portal – intranet or internet.

Writing & Grammar: A Brief History of Editing

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

I still meet editors who have never tracked a change or typed a comment in Word. I still hear this complaint now about Word's tracked changes, but when the alternative is some people's handwriting, the underlines, strikethroughs and balloons suddenly look a little better. One of the last problems to be solved in tracked changes was how to mark text that was moved. Are you using Word's track changes? by Jennie Ruby.

Why Do We Have an LMS?

eLearning Cyclops

We have to track EVERYTHING!" First off, we do not need to track everything. As far as classroom enrollment and transcripts, I am confident there are cheaper, easier alternatives for those tasks. Warning, this is a bit of a rant written mostly for my own need in sorting through how I really feel about learning management systems (LMSs). If you work with the average LMS you probably understand. I have worked numerous different LMSs, some good and some not so good.

Bottom-Line Performance

Gamers can also track more variables in their head. It’s alternately frustrating (when I fail at tasks I know a 6-year-old has mastered) and thrilling (when I more than double my initial score at a game in less than an hour). I want to learn to play video games, because I think it will boost my brain in ways that I am excited about – and I think it will make me a better learning designer. Video games change your brain in ways not directly addressed in the game.

Articulate, Moodle, and SCORM

eLearning Blender

One of the most common questions I see in forums, twitter, and blogs is how to use SCORM so that the results of eLearning courses developed with articulate can be tracked in the Moodle gradebook. While it is a fairly simple process, many eLearning developers run into problems tracking scores for Articulate courses in Moodle. All it takes is one wrong setting for your scores to not be tracked and there are a lot of SCORM settings to choose from in both programs.
